With the college search process becoming more real for your students as they approach their senior year, I would like to invite you to share our Workshop Wednesday series with them. These online workshops, designed specifically for students beginning their college search, offer valuable information and interactive sessions to help them navigate this important journey.

All events will be held at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on the day of the event and registration is available on our website.

Saint Peter's Prep - Fall 2024 Practice Tests

St. Peter’s Prep and Compass Education have partnered to offer the brand new Digital Adaptive PSAT and SAT at no cost. This new test (learn all about it here) mimics the computer-based test — question type, content, timing, duration, and adaptive structure.

In addition, an at-home, computer-proctored ACT practice test is being offered; this test matches the current paper/pencil, linear version of the test.

The test results are invaluable in helping St. Peter’s Prep college counselors and Compass directors craft the ideal testing and tutoring plan for each student. **One test of each type per student.**

SAT Registration for the 2024–25 School Year is Open!

At Compass, we advise our clients to register for exams as soon as possible. Given the capacity constraints in some regions, we also want to alert our college counseling colleagues that SAT Registration through the June 2025 test date has opened. This is the earliest that College Board has accepted registrations. There is already very limited availability in certain locations. We recommend you encourage your students to act now as sites are expected to fill up quickly.

ATTN: Juniors & Sophomores RE: HBCUs

Current Juniors, Sophomores, and their families are invited to an informational webinar on Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs) that will take place on Zoom at 6:00 PM on the evening of Tuesday, May 14th, 2024. 

The webinar will be co-hosted by Lycée Français de New York's Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging, Dr. Angela Gittens, and its Director of College Counseling, Mikael Perreau. Joining Angela and Mikael will be representatives from three HBCUs, and they hope to also have the participation of at least one student currently enrolled at an HBCU.

The webinar will cover the origin and history of HBCUs, the current landscape of HBCU admissions, the benefits of applying to & attending an HBCU, and a quick look at the particular characteristics of the universities represented by our three panelists. At the end of the presentation, there will be ample time provided for Q&A.

The University of Scranton Cyber-AI Investigation Camp

 

We have an exciting opportunity for you to share with your students! This summer our students are invited to a three-day Cyber-AI Investigation Camp July 9-11, hosted by the University of Scranton! This is an opportunity for high school students (rising 10th-12th graders) to enjoy an exciting exploration in cybersecurity and cyber investigation experience in the AI age.

The Cyber-AI Investigation Camp will focus on increasing student interest in cybercrime investigation by teaching cybersecurity knowledge, safe online behavior, and cyber forensics investigation. Camp participants will engage in hands-on explorations of the many aspects of cybersecurity including foundations of cybersecurity, cyber law, ethical hacking, AI, and digital forensics investigation techniques. 

The cost for the 3-day camp is $399. On-campus dormitories and meals are available from the evening of July 8 through July 11, for an additional fee. 

Camp participants will explore the world of cyber investigation with experts in the field through fun, real-world learning experiences enhanced by teacher-student interaction. Camp activities include hands-on exercises, interactive lectures, games, and career exploration. 

A typical camp day starts at 9 am and ends at 3 pm. On the 3rd day of the camp, students will participate in a cybercrime investigation competition. This competition will be held as a team competition in the University’s Cyber-Forensics and Cybersecurity lab.

Exploring College Options is a special informational program sponsored by the undergraduate admissions offices of five of the country's leading universities: Duke University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Stanford University.

Representatives from each university will present information about their institution, discuss the application process, and answer questions on how to put together a strong and reflective application. Each program will end with breakout sessions where representatives will answer questions about their specific school and the application process. We are offering both in-person and virtual programs, with each program featuring the same content.

United Nations Advanced Training (UNAT) Program - Application closes 4/30/24

We are excited to launch our United Nations Advanced Training (UNAT) on June 10-19, 2024! Your students will surely benefit from the seminars, tours, and networking opportunities in this 10-day exclusive leadership event.

What is UNAT?

The United Nations Advanced Training (UNAT) is a selective program tailored for top-performing rising 11th and 12th graders. It provides participants with a rare exposure to the work of diplomats and UN staff at their headquarters in New York. The UNAT is designed to help students learn about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the decision-making process of international organizations. The UNAT will aid participants in their career development and allow them to elevate their skills to advance as the future generation of global leaders.

UMass Amherst Summer Pre-College is accepting applications for residential and online programs through May. Our deadlines are coming up soon -- we hope to see your students at UMass this summer! Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis, with deadlines as outlined below for each session. We recommend applying early as programs may fill up.  Session 1 (Programs starting June 30): May 1st, 2024 Session 2 (Programs starting July 14): May 15th, 2024 Session 3 (Programs starting July 28): May 31st, 2024 Rising 10th - 12th graders in high school are eligible to attend the program.
