2023 3D Printed Bridge Competition

YOU'RE INVITED TO COMPETE IN

High School Division

NJIT Campus Center

This competition will allow students to familiarize themselves with the process of being presented with a problem statement, determining a workable solution, and physically producing their design. Students will demonstrate teamwork, organization, analytical skills, and creativity throughout the process of the competition. Teams should include the various skill sets needed: structural, computer, and a good sense of style! 


The Time Line:

- Town Hall* - Friday, January 13 at 12 pm - Webex

- Town Hall* - Friday, February 17 at 12 pm - Webex

- Submit Bridge Design - Friday, March 10 to william.h.pennock@njit.edu

Competition Date - Sunday, April 30 | 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM | NJIT Campus Center


*Town Halls are your opportunity to ask questions about the competition and the rules! Town halls will be recorded and posted to the competition website.


What You Need:

1. Three - Five Student Team

2. One team mentor - The mentor should be able to help the students with the bridge design process (an industry mentor may be provided by the competition)

Overall 1st Place - Valued at $1,000

2022 High School Poetry Contest - Still Accepting Submissions!

Accepting submissions November 1–30, 2022
Do you love to write poetry? Then here's a great opportunity for you!
Submit to the 17th Annual Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers contest, presented by the Kenyon Review, one of the country’s most respected literary magazines. If you are the winner or one of the two runners-up, your poem will be published in our magazine and on our website.

In addition, the winner receives a full scholarship to the 2023 Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshop next summer.

Northeastern’s Accelerate Pre-College 2023 Program Offerings Are Live!

We are excited to announce our Accelerate Pre-College 2023 Boston Campus Programs! 

Northeastern University’s Accelerate Pre-College Programs are designed for talented high school students in the U.S. and around the world who want to give themselves a competitive edge. Our residential Boston campus programs are taught by our internationally acclaimed faculty, allowing you to experience true collegiate learning in a world-class environment. Students gain extensive, hands-on, experiential education in subjects including engineering, health sciences, ethics & emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and more. These programs allow students to have a true Northeastern University experience. 

While discussing options for next year with your students, we encourage you to share the following links for them to review:

Our application is set to open in early December. The program application includes a financial aid section for consideration for our need-based aid awards. The application deadline is March 14, 2023 or until programs reach capacity. Students that apply by the early deadline of February 28, 2023 will receive a $500 discount on tuition.

Stevens Business - High School Virtual Summer Research Program

The School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology is offering a paid virtual summer research program for high school students. In this six-week program, students will have the opportunity to work alongside a faculty member from the School of Business and assist them with research in their area of study such as management, leadership or finance.  The final assignment will include a PowerPoint presentation detailing their research findings. The program will run from July 1, 2023, through August 12, 2023, and students will receive a $500 stipend after completing the program. 

Eligibility: Applicants must currently be in their junior year of high school (no exceptions).

Deadline: Applications are due by March 1, 2023.

Notification: Applicants will be notified by April 1, 2023. 

The application packet will include all of the following:

  • 1-page essay in which you describe yourself and detail what you hope to gain from this experience 
  • a copy of your current resume 
  • a copy of your unofficial high school transcript 
  • one letter of recommendation from a teacher, a guidance counselor, or a work supervisor. These letters can also be emailed directly to Lindsay Hartelius at lharteli@stevens.edu

Stevens Trading Day 2023 - Registration Information

The School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology invites all students in their sophomore or junior year of high school to participate in Stevens Trading Day 2023 - a virtual and live trading competition event. 

In the first phase of this trading competition which will launch on February 1, 2023, students will create a portfolio using Dow Jones MarketWatch Virtual Stock Exchange an easy-to-use trading simulator which provides real time market data, news, and historical pricing information on indexes, listed and OTC securities. 

In the second phase of this competition, the 25 students with the top performing portfolios as of February 28, 2023, will be invited to our campus in Hoboken, NJ on Friday, March 24th, 2023, for an exciting live trading competition event in our Hanlon Financial Systems Center laboratories. 

The agenda of the day will include the following:

  • Bloomberg 101 - Introductory workshop on the key functions of the Bloomberg terminal 
  • Live Trading Event - Compete against the best of the best high school traders for prizes 
  • Market Insight Discussion - Professor George Calhoun, contributor for Forbes magazine, will provide color on the state of the financial markets
  • Campus Tour and Lunch
