My name is LT Emily Torsney and I am the Northeast Admissions Officer at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT.

I am pleased to invite you and your students to join me as we host an information session for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in East Islip, NY this weekend! This session will be hosted at the East Islip Public Library and will include a comprehensive presentation for students who are interested in learning more about the unique opportunities available at the Coast Guard Academy and as a commissioned officer. Counselors and educators are welcome to attend, and we ask that you share this invitation far and wide with your students and colleagues! Details for all events are outlined below.

Guide your high school students to Syracuse University Pre-College!

 

For more than 60 years, Syracuse University has been providing rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors with the opportunity to explore potential majors and careers in its renowned pre-college programs.

In Summer College, your high school students can choose from over 100 college-level courses offered on campus, online or in a hybrid format. As a Summer College student, they will:

• Build their resume or portfolio
• Enhance their college applications so they stand out to college admissions
• Test out a major
• Earn a Certificate of Completion and a Syracuse University credit or noncredit transcript

The scholarship deadline is March 1, 2023, and the final application deadline is May 1, 2023. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and courses fill quickly, so please encourage your students to apply soon!

Give Your Students a Jump-start on College this Summer

Summer is a perfect time for motivated high school students to learn from William & Mary’s world-renowned professors and experts in today’s most sought-after industries. The application period for our online pre-college summer program is now open.   Our online pre-college programs help students ages 13 and older explore their interests. Through participating in our courses, students can discover if an interest could lead to a college major or even a future career.     Even more exciting, we've just added a new course to our portfolio for anyone who is thinking about a future in the legal profession. Constitutional Law: We the People provides an inside look at the fundamentals of the Constitution and how the judicial system works to interpret it. Students will learn how lawyers and judges rely on the constitution to support their cases, and why there are differing opinions on how this document is — or should be — deciphered.   This course is designed by renowned William & Mary professors and delivered through engaging video lessons.   Please share this email with your students. The 2023 PREFACE Program at Rensselaer

We are excited to share information with you about the 2023 PREFACE Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute! PREFACE is a summer program for talented students who have been historically under-represented in science, engineering, and the technological fields, and who express a strong, early interest in pursuing careers in these areas. This year’s program will take place in-person, Sunday, July 23 through Saturday, August 5 2023 (2 weeks), on the Rensselaer campus in Troy, NY. 

The PREFACE Program is for students who will be entering the 11th or 12th grade in the fall. Interested candidates should review the information on the PREFACE website and complete the online application.

Completed applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on April 14, 2023. Notifications will be made to accepted students in early May.

Carnegie Mellon's Pre-College Programs FINAL DEADLINE is ONE MONTH AWAY!

The final application deadline for Carnegie Mellon's Pre-College Programs is March 15, 2023. Please share this email with any students you think might be interested in applying to the programs below. Current sophomores and juniors who will be 16 years of age by July 2023 are eligible. We have scholarship available! Pre-College Programs* - Summer of 2023 Architecture: Introduces design practice, creative problem solving, and critical thinking through a matrix of programming, celebrating curiosity and providing a strong foundation for architectural education. (4-week program)   Art: Uses both traditional tools and cutting-edge technologies to explore creative ideas in a college-level studio environment. Students develop both conceptual and technical skills preparing them for a wide range of opportunities in both art studies and careers. (3- and 6-week program options) Computational Biology: Provides extensive training in both cutting-edge laboratory experiments to generate biological data and the computational analysis of that data. Uses real-world scenarios for exploration. The program mirrors the first weeks of Carnegie Mellon’s first-year undergraduate School of Music curriculum. (3- and 6-week program options, commuter part-time option) National High School Game Academy: Allows high school students to experience modern video game development using industry-standard technology. Healthcare Careers Discovery Program for High School Students–Registration is OPEN!

 The Institute for Simulation Learning located at Holy Name Medical Center is proud to offer a  fantastic summer program for High School students who may be thinking of careers in healthcare.  It's a great way to peek behind the curtain to see if healthcare is a field that you really like before committing to a nursing or pre-med program in college.  

Please share with this your students as well as your Science faculty who may be able to identify students who would be interested.  Only 12 students are accepted for each session so it fills up quickly.  Registration is open now!

Healthcare Careers Discovery Program 

(for students who have completed at least one year of High School)

The Healthcare Careers Discovery Program offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in interactive learning experiences in our Simulation Center.  During the week-long summer session, learners participate in a combination of workshops and simulation scenarios exposing them to a variety of clinical skills and healthcare professions.

Program Highlights

• First on the Scene emergency response training with AHA Heartsaver CPR AED & First Aid skills and certification.  These skills will be called up throughout the week as students participate in a variety of simulated scenarios.

• Mock Code (cardiac arrest) Simulations

• Hospital Based Careers Panel featuring speakers from a variety of disciplines and areas of expertise.

• Behind the Scenes Hospital Tour

• Resume Writing and Mock Interviews
