Summer Opportunities for Access & Inclusion: June 30 – August 11, 2018
Carnegie Mellon’s Summer Opportunities for Access & Inclusion
This website outlines Carnegie Mellon’s Summer Opportunities for Access & Inclusion for high school juniors and/or seniors. There will be no tuition, housing or dining fees for students selected to attend these programs. Apply now!
Our summer programs provide rising juniors and seniors with the opportunity to focus on creativity and problem solving, in a supportive, challenging environment, which provide building blocks for future study in a rigorous college setting.
For students interested in earning college credit in STEM or other academic disciplines, in a challenging but supportive college environment, we offer Advanced Placement/Early Admission (AP/EA) and the Summer Academy for Mathematics and Science.
For students interested in a hands-on, project-based summer program, Pre-College Artificial Intelligence* offers an in-depth experience in the Artificial Intelligence field, while the National High School Game Academy exposes students interested in all disciplines (art, music, design and programming) to the modern video game development process.
For students interested in the fine arts, who want to immerse themselves into a studio or conservatory-level program, we offer the following Pre-College Fine Arts Programs: Architecture, Art, Design, Drama and Music.
*A three-week program from June 30 - July 22, 2018
The Summer Opportunities for Access & Inclusion Programs invite high school students with strong academic records, who are U.S. citizens/permanent residents, to apply.
Students with the following backgrounds are invited to apply:
• Underrepresented minorities
• Families of low socioeconomic status, which may be indicated by eligibility for public assistance programs or free/reduced lunch programs
• Potentially first in family to attend college
• Attendance at rural or inner-city high schools with historically low rates of admittance to top-tier colleges
Carnegie Mellon University does not discriminate in admission, employment, or administration of its programs or activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, handicap or disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, creed, ancestry, belief, veteran status, or genetic information. Furthermore, Carnegie Mellon University does not discriminate and is required not to discriminate in violation of federal, state, or local laws or executive orders.
We invite you to attend a Pre-College Preview Day on Monday, February 19. Pre-College Preview Day will provide students and their families with the opportunity to hear about the value of our summer programs, meet individual program directors and representatives from Student Life, and also hear from current Carnegie Mellon students who previously attended Pre-College. We’ll discuss both the academic and social/residential aspects of our Pre-College Programs. Register here!
