I hope this email finds you well. It is a pleasure to invite current 7th - 11th grade students to participate in the W.E.B. Du Bois Scholars Institute's 2022 Online Summer Program!

2022 Online Summer Program 

Founded in the summer of 1988, the W.E.B. DuBois Scholars Institute provides scholarship and leadership training for high-achieving youth. In light of COVID-19, the W.E.B. Du Bois Scholars Institute's Online Summer Program will occur instead of the traditional Summer Institute at Princeton University. 

During the 2022 Online Summer Program, students will experience an academic and leadership development program by receiving rigorous instruction in college level courses. The Du Bois Institute aims to sharpen students’ research and quantitative analysis skills, as well as writing, verbal, and critical reading skills.

Program Overview:

The online program is for current 7th-11th graders (rising 8th - rising 12th graders). 

Students can choose from 16 different online courses (based on their grade):

Course Dates:

Each course occurs over 7 days (excluding weekends) for 90 minutes daily.

Session 1: June 27th - July 6th (5 courses available)

Session 2: July 7th - July 15th (6 courses available) 

Session 3: July 18th - July 26th (5 courses available)

+ Each course can be applied for individually.

+ Students can apply for more than one course. Finalists will be assigned to a course before additional courses are granted.

The tuition fee is $350 per course.

Summer Internships in London for Ages 12-18

 

Following last week's government announcement to end all of England's Covid restrictions, we have been inundated with registrations for our Summer Experiences in London. We are already more than 50% full across the board as students look to finally gain the in-person industry experience they've been waiting for. Our Summer Experiences offer life-changing opportunities to ages 12-18: immersive work experience activities under the guidance of successful professionals at top industry locations around London. Accommodation at University of London halls is available, with all meals and guardianship included. Covid update: All Covid restrictions have ended in England. Students do not need to quarantine at all on arrival to the UK, regardless of their vaccination status, so they can register now with full confidence. For those still unsure about travelling, each Summer Experience also has a 'Live Online' option which allows students to attend from the comfort of their own homes.

Summer Architecture Program at The Catholic University of America

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Experiences in Architecture (EiA) program at the Catholic University of America (CUA) is an intense, two-week, pre-college workshop for students interested in architecture or other design-related fields. Students are exposed to both the academic and professional sides of the architectural arena, as the city of Washington, D.C. becomes their virtual classroom. 

EiA will better prepare students for the rigors of architecture school, giving them a head start, as well as acquainting them with campus life at the university level. Students who have participated in EiA’s summer workshop, or a similar pre-college program, are better prepared for success at the university level.

This year EiA will continue with its successful hybrid experience! Opening the program to students that can't make it in person allowed for a very diverse experience for all. Students from across the world, including India and Brazil, were able to join and connect with in-person students from across the U.S. We have phenomenal instructors that are experienced in creating a successful hybrid studio environment with small groups and individualized focus. Students that want to be in-person will have the option to commute or to live on campus. Either way, they will have their own desks and work in studio. As students in the program, whether you’re online or in-person, you will have access to all of our best lecturers and get to experience (virtual) tours of museums, firms, and the CUA campus. Students will receive their own set of tools and we look forward to working through this tool kit to ensure students gain the foundational knowledge they need for drawing, sketching, and model making.

Students will leave this workshop with an array of technical skills, a higher level of confidence in giving presentations, a greater understanding of how the design profession works, and connections with professors and practitioners. This is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that we would love to share with you.
