WE HAVE TWO INCREDIBLE SUMMER MEDICAL PROGRAMS TO OFFER YOUR STEM STUDENTS FOR SUMMER 2021 – DON’T LET THEM MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY!
As universities continue to close for the summer, more of the in-person summer programs are closing too, and top notch opportunities for older high school students to do something exciting and challenging in their summer are disappearing.
At BOLD Summers, we continue to partner with two incredible hospitals in Philadelphia, PA, - Penn Medicine and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), to provide two of the most esteemed summer medical programs for rising 11th and 12th graders.
Both Penn Med and CHOP have been planning for their virtual summer programs since November last year, knowing this would be the case, and have developed an exciting curriculum/schedule for each of their programs. We promise that it's going to feel like you are right there on-site!
If you have STEM students who are thinking of doing something in the medical field or would benefit from the experience – in general medicine, or in pediatric medicine, then please consider suggesting either of these opportunities to them. Both programs have limited spots available and are accepting applications until midnight, April 30th.

The Theatre School at DePaul’s Virtual Summer High School Training Program
The Summer High School Training Program is a non-college credit program that prepares rising 11th and 12th grade students for the college audition and interview process, all while building life-long connections with one of the top theatre conservatories in the nation. For three weeks (June 26-July 18, 2021), students will study one of six concentrations from the comforts of home - acting, comedy arts, directing, design, playwriting, or stage management/theatre technology. Operating on a virtual platform for the second year in a row allows us to offer a more accessible, affordable program for students who may not have been able to travel to Chicago this summer.
I kindly ask that you please encourage your interested students to apply now. The priority submission deadline is May 1, 2021 (please contact us to if an application extension is needed). Your are invited to be part of the 2021 Stockton CSI Summer Camp for High School students at Stockton University, just west of Atlantic City.
Stockton CSI is a residential summer camp for high school students (and those who will enter high school in the fall) who would like hands-on experience with a homicide investigation and trial. The camp has been featured on The Today Show and in The Wall Street Journal.
Campers will work alongside criminal justice and forensic psychology professionals as part of an elite team to help solve a murder. They will be involved with every phase of the investigative and legal process, from a crime scene investigation to a criminal trial. Campers will also go meet attorneys, criminologists, and professionals from the Atlantic County Medical Examiner's Office, the Air Marshal Training Center, and the Atlantic County Jail.

Environmental Horticulture
The Appell Environmental Horticulture Program
is rooted in plant science and growing plants
sustainably for food and landscaping purposes. The program will teach students to understand and influence the production of food and ornamental plants with a global perspective of their use and how they impact global environmental phenomena.

COURSES
Students in the Environmental Horticulture program will carry out research projects guided by faculty as they move through coursework in basic plant science, economic botany, fruit and vegetable production, nursery
management, and others.
Our program is focused on environmental
sustainability and studies the economic use of plants from a global perspective. While conventional
programs focus on
agricultural production and yields, our program also provides an understanding of the environmental
impacts and how to
manage them. Urban food production is part of our program, and is not often included at other schools.
PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
Students will gain hands-on environmental horticulture experience through project-based learning experiences, research opportunities, and internships. With a focus on environmental sustainability, the Appell Environmental Horticulture Program will include hands-on learning opportunities at Millbourne, Appell’s 50-acre private estate in York. Partnerships with local farms and urban food production entities, as well as landscaping and ornamental plant operations, are some additional opportunities for project-based learning.

Environmental Horticulture can be described as the science and art of improving our world with the
intentional use of plants for food, landscaping, and decoration. Professionals in this industry are
responsible for the
production, utilization, and maintenance of trees, shrubs, houseplants,
flowers, and turf grasses that are used to enhance the environment. There are a number of career opportunities available to graduates of this program, as well as graduate school opportunities leading to careers in research, product development, and teaching.
