Eligibility Requirements

Incoming freshmen attending Catholic high schools with a minimum of an unweighted 3.0 GPA

and a 1350 SAT (new) or 29 ACT as well as a strong record of involvement in their high school,

community or church.

Application Procedures

No application required, automatically awarded to eligible student.

This scholarship, in the amount of $2,000 annually, is automatically awarded in the late spring

to a select group of Catholic High School students who the most have exceptional academic

and extracurricular records. This $2,000 award is renewable for three additional years for a total

award of $8,000 as long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA and earns at least 30 credits annually.

There is no application required for this scholarship; the scholarship is automatically awarded to

selected students.

Catholic School Scholarship

Created in response to a recommendation from the Advisory Board of the University's Institute for Catholic Schools (ICS), this scholarship provides an annual award of $2,500, for a maximum award of $10,000 over four years of undergraduate study and is automatically awarded to incoming freshmen who will be graduating from a Catholic high school and entering St. John’s in the fall of 2022. Catholic Scholars Program

Catholic Scholars take part in a four-year developmental program that translates faith into action. Prospective freshmen apply for this scholarship, and if chosen will receive a grant of $5,000 per year which will be awarded for four years of study.  Students will commit themselves to faith-based leadership training, service and prayer, and formation of a deeper understanding of what it means to be a leader inspired by the Catholic tradition. Catholic Scholars assume important leadership roles within the community of faith and service at St. John's University in preparation for becoming faith-inspired Catholic leaders for life. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING EXCLUSIONS: Students entering a house of discernment sponsored by a diocese or religious community, or a college seminary or religious community formation program are ineligible to participate in the Catholic Scholars Program at St. John’s University. This class is a practical overview of the fundamentals of digital photography: aperture, focal length, and depth of field, as well as an introduction into more advanced photographic practices. Weekly classes will cover the technical and aesthetic elements of photography. Students will gain hands-on experience during class shoots as well as out-of-class assignments. Norm Brodsky Business Concept Competition

 

About the Competition

Have an innovative business idea? You could win a full tuition scholarship to Rider!

The Norm Brodsky Business Concept Competition is designed to recognize and promote exceptional effort, skill, and creativity among high school students. The winner of the senior pitch competition receives a full four-year tuition scholarship to Rider University.

The competition is sponsored by Norm Brodsky ’64 and his wife, Elaine. Norm, a long-time entrepreneur who is the namesake of Rider’s Norm Brodsky College of Business, founded eight successful businesses including Citi Storage, the largest privately owned archive business in the country.

Who is eligible?

Sophomores, juniors, and seniors at any high school.

One competition or two?

While all sophomore, junior and senior high school students are eligible to apply, the competition will take place in two divisions. Sophomores and juniors will compete in the lower division while seniors compete in the higher division.

However, all finalists (and family and friends) for both divisions are invited to the live finale and banquet.

Entry Deadline: November 7, 2021* (applications submitted after the 11:59 pm deadline will be entered into next year's competition)

*Rising high school seniors must apply to the University by the Early Action deadline of November 15 in order to be eligible for the live finale.

Live Finale: January 29, 2022 starting at 2:30 pm

How are winners selected?

A set of judges review all entries. The top five entries in each division will be invited to present their business concept at Rider University before a panel of judges. Scores will then be totaled to determine final placement. If you are a finalist in the senior division and are coming from beyond the local area, Rider University will provide transportation and lodging for the senior finalist. Rider does not want distance to deter a senior from entering the competition.

When are the awards conferred?

Final placement and awards will be announced at the banquet following the live finale.

About Norm Brodsky

The personification of the word “entrepreneur”, Norm Brodsky ’64 launched eight successful businesses before he began sharing his strategies as the author of the popular Street Smarts column in Inc. Magazine.

Brodsky is also the author of the book The Knack: How Street Smart Entrepreneurs Learn How to Handle Whatever Comes Up. Norm and his wife Elaine enjoy sharing their expertise and mentoring business owners as well as entrepreneurial students.

Prizes for the High School Senior Competition:

• 1st Place: 4-year, full-tuition scholarship* + a plaque + a trophy for your high school

• 3rd Place: A plaque.

*Scholarship is to attend Rider University and is contingent upon the student being accepted at Rider University, and continuing as a Rider student in good standing.

Prizes for the High School Sophomore and Junior Competition:

• 1st Place: $750 + plaque + trophy for your high school + automatic entrance to the finals when you are a senior*

• 2nd Place: $250 + plaque.

• 3rd Place: A plaque.

*Automatic entrance to the finals assumes student formally applies to the competition as a senior – the student can use a similar or different concept.

ACC Young Scholars Program

 

ACC Young Scholars Program will be opening the application process in the Fall, 2021 for students. Designed for students interested in a career in science, the Young Scholars program pairs participants with an ACC member mentor for a year of research and education about cardiology and cardiovascular disease.

About the Young Scholars Program

The Young Scholars program is an initiative of ACC’s Academic Cardiology Member Section and local State Chapters that aims to provide promising young students with an introduction to the field of cardiology and strengthen the pipeline of talent for the future.

The program will kick off at ACC’s Annual Scientific Session (ACC.22) in Washington, DC on Saturday, April 2, 2022,* where students will have the chance to meet scientists from around the world, sit in on sessions, and explore the Expo floor to visit exhibitor booths. For a year following ACC.22, Young Scholars will also work virtually – through regularly scheduled webinars and Webex/Zoom calls – with a faculty mentor on a research project.

Program participants also have the opportunity to visit a local hospital or attend ACC State Chapter meetings throughout the year.*
