The Institute for Simulation Learning located at Holy Name Medical Center is proud to offer a fantastic summer program for high school students who may be thinking of careers in healthcare. It's a great way to peek behind the curtain to see if it's something that you really like before committing to a nursing or pre-med program in college. Only 12 students are accepted for each session so it fills up quickly. Registration is open now!
The Healthcare Careers Discovery Program offers an innovative, simulation-based approach for high school students aspiring to a career in the evolving field of healthcare. The active learning environment includes a combination of classroom and simulation learning experiences to introduce the student to various clinical professions and skills. American Heart Association CPR/AED and First Aid Certification are included.
Please note:
Due to COVID-19, there will be no observational hours in clinical areas.
Objectives:
Learn from experienced medical professionals as they share their knowledge. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification is included along with the opportunity to learn:
Vital signs assessment
Injection administration
Emergency response through simulated exercises
Additionally, career development strategies will be presented, including:
Simulated mock interview
Interpersonal communication
Résumé writing
Participants will be chosen by competitive application and receive a certificate of completion at the end of the session.
Cost:
Cost of the complete program including training materials, lunch, scrubs and stethoscope is $799.00

Session 1: June 27 – July 1, 2022 ~ 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Hours may vary)
or
Session 2: July 18 – July 22, 2022 ~ 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Hours may vary)
