Most students take the SAT for the first time in the spring of their junior year. This allows them to build on their experience with the PSAT/NMSQT® while leaving time for them to take the SAT a second time. • Because the PSAT/NMSQT and the SAT have similar formats, students who take the SAT while their PSAT/NMSQT experience is still fresh have an advantage. • Students can use the feedback they receive on their PSAT/NMSQT performance to help prepare themselves for the SAT. • The sooner students take the SAT, the sooner they'll be able to make the most of free college planning resources like BigFuture™. Most students take the test again in the fall of their senior year and often improve their score.
