INTERESTED IN HOW ENGINEERING APPLIES TO HEALTH AND MEDICINE?
Come to TCNJ for a week-long residential camp and learn about biomedical engineering. Work with biomedical engineers and students on projects ranging from medical imaging to drug delivery, from medical device design to neural engineering and more.
The camp will be held at the beautiful campus of The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ. Participants stay in a TCNJ air-conditioned residence dorm and are chaperoned by Biomedical Engineering students.
Participants will be exposed to the diverse field of biomedical engineering through several hands‐on and design activities that take place in the TCNJ STEM Building’s state‐of‐the‐art biomedical engineering laboratories and design facilities. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet biomedical engineers working in the medical device industry.
A typical day at camp includes:
- Hands‐on lab or design activities, such as mechanically testing materials, learning principles of diffusion, working with industry-grade CAD systems, and more
- Presentation of project outcomes
- Evening activities
- Meet‐and‐greet with biomedical engineers from industry
Who should apply?
High school students that rank in the top 30% of their class and have an interest in engineering or medicine. Applicants must have successfully completed one year of math and science.
Camp Costs
The full week of residence camp costs $1,750 (plus a non-refundable $39 application fee). This fee covers tuition, educational materials, room & board, and entertainment expenses. Camp participants must provide their own transportation to and from campus in Ewing, New Jersey.

Program Dates: July 14-19, 2019
Seats are limited. Priority application deadline is April 25, 2019. Rolling admission thereafter will be based on available space.
All applicants will be notified by June 5, 2019.
Full payment will be due June 14, 2019
Application Requirements
In addition to general parent and student information, the application form will request:
- A 250-word student statement about their interest in Biomedical Engineering and what they would like to learn by participating
- Name and email contact information for a teacher recommendation. This teacher should be in the student’s high school and have taught the student in a STEM subject. Please have the student ask the teacher to be a recommender prior to submitting the application.
