Montclair State University Early College Program

Academically ambitious high school students have an exciting opportunity to complement high school study with Montclair State University coursework. Through this pre-college program, rising juniors and seniors earn transferable college credits, experience the rigors and expectations of college-level classes, learn alongside Montclair State University students and engage in courses taught by University professors on campus or online.

Application Requirements

Prospective Early College Program students must submit:
  1. Completed online Early College Program Application
  2. Official high school transcript with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  3. Personal statement – What are your academic goals and where do you see yourself in 3-5 years?
  4. A one-time, non-refundable $25 processing fee for the entire summer, fall, or spring session upon your initial registration for one or more courses
  5. Optional – Letter of recommendation from a counselor or teacher (non-relative)

Application Type: Rolling admission
Deadline: Students have up to one week to register prior to the start of the semester/session
Notification: Completed applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Students are notified two to four days after review.
Estimated Tuition:
Summer 2019 Cost Per 3 Credit Course$725.00 ($241.60 per credit)
Fall 2019 Cost Per 3 Credit Course$835.00 ($278.30 per credit)

Courses

Early College Program students may choose from a wide variety of undergraduate courses within the 100 and 200 levels. To find courses, browse through the Undergraduate Course Catalog. Should a course have a math or language prerequisite, testing is available for accepted Early College Program students to determine placement and allow for registration. Important Information for Early College Program Applicants

Early College Program students may register for fall, spring and summer courses. Students are permitted to take up to two courses in the fall, spring and/or summer. Students must apply for each semester in which they wish to enroll. Courses are offered on a space-available basis. Priority registration is given to matriculated undergraduates. Admission to the Early College Program classification does not guarantee acceptance into a Montclair State University undergraduate degree program.
