Summer journalism opportunity for students

BU Summer Journalism Academy

Do you have students who still need to finalize their summer plans?

For students thinking about a career in communications or who enjoy writing, have them apply to the Boston University Summer Journalism Academy. Students can choose their session:

In our Writing and Reporting sessions, our award-winning journalists work with students to show them how to follow facts and get to the heart of stories affecting their communities. All students attending our program will have the option to publish one of their stories on our Academy’s website, The Terrier , and use this to in their college essays or add to their portfolios.

Students interested in visual storytelling can apply for our photojournalism sessions. Veteran photojournalist Stephen Haines will help students develop their camera skills and guide them on how to work alongside journalists.

No matter what session your student(s) select, they will learn practical skills to apply to any career.

To learn more, visit www.summerjournalism.org. We accept applications on a rolling basis. The final deadline to apply is:

  • April 19, 2024, for on-campus sessions, and

Rutgers Day April 27

Join Us!

Rutgers Day is here! Join us Saturday, April 27, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. on our Piscataway and New Brunswick campuses.

Rutgers Day is a free, annual event open to the public, giving the entire community a chance to see many of the exciting things happening at New Jersey’s state university. It’s a great opportunity for K-12 school groups to discover what you can do, see, make, and learn at Rutgers.

We encourage you to share the event flyers--available here in both English and Spanish--with your faculty, staff, and students as we prepare to welcome everyone back to campus for Rutgers Day 2024!

Here's some of what you can look forward to at Rutgers Day 2024:

  • Rutgers departments, schools, student organizations, and centers all provide programs that help teens, current and prospective students, and their families learn about the vast resources and activities that Rutgers has to offer. Exhibits, hands-on activities, and demonstrations engage and inform attendees of all ages about the valuable contributions the university makes to the people of New Jersey and beyond.
  • Check out all the programs offered via the Rutgers Day website and our FAQs to plan your day.
  • Interested in bringing a large group? See our FAQs and take advantage of our student dining halls with a special group rate. Bus parking is available.
