Attn Seniors: Port Authority Police Pipe Band Scholarship now open!

The Port Authority Police Department Pipes and Drums are proud to announce that the application process for their Memorial Scholarships to honor the heroic actions of the three band members who died in the attacks on America on 9-11-2001 in now open.

Police Officers Liam Callahan, Steve Huczko and Richie Rodriguez were on duty and responded to the World Trade Center to assist in the evacuation and rescue of thousands of people inside the two towers. Tragically, they were inside the buildings when they collapsed. Through this scholarship, the Band continues to honor their unselfish acts and provide educational assistance for a student with a musical background to follow a similar career path.

The criteria used to select the recipient shall be related to the purpose of the grant, and may include
(but are not limited to) the following:
- Prior academic performance and course of future study
- Participation in an organized pipe band
- Recommendation letter from music instructor or band director
- Resident of New York or New Jersey
- Graduating high school senior or entering college freshman
