Cornerstone Summer Institute at UVA

University of Virginia

We hope 2020 is off to a great start. The Cornerstone Summer Institute is now accepting applications for the upcoming session and we would appreciate you sharing information about this special experience with any students you feel might be interested. We’ve also included a flyer that could be displayed with other summer opportunities you all share with your students. Thank you in advance for your assistance and feel free to contact us with any questions.

The Cornerstone Summer Institute is a week-long summer camp at the University of Virginia where high school students learn about slavery and its legacies by exploring the University, Charlottesville, and area landmarks. The camp provides rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with the opportunity to engage in historical investigation, archaeological excavation, and community engagement in order to learn and develop thinking skills that will prepare them for success in college and beyond. For 2020, CSI will run from June 20 to 26. Come spend a week at UVA with us this summer! Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis until April 1, 2020. Some financial aid is available for students with demonstrated need.
