Early College Programs at Montclair State University

 

My name is Dawn Wilkenfeld and I am the Assistant Director for Early College Programs at Montclair State University.  We have a variety of exciting opportunities this summer for your high school students to: Experience campus life Explore their interests Discover their passion Learn in our small class sizes alongside undergraduate students Receive support from our dedicated success coach Transform their learning experience Find success both inside and outside of the classroom Some of our upcoming programs include: Hispanic Student College Institute: This program provides a unique and highly interactive opportunity for students of Hispanic/Latinx descent to strengthen their knowledge on issues related to transitioning to college, future academic success, and applying to college. Italian Immersion Summer Program: Taught fully in Italian, this 3-credit program immerses students in Italian culture and prepares students to move with confidence from Italian 3 to an AP or advanced Italian class. Model United Nations Summer Academy: Taught by a former UN diplomat, students can spend a week living on campus this summer, earn 3 college credits, and learn how diplomats conduct research, deliver statements, draft resolutions, and negotiate.  Early College Scholars: High achieving students have the opportunity to gain a competitive edge and begin earning degree credits before committing to a college or university.  This program is offered during the summer, fall, and spring semesters. Pre-Law Summer Academy: Through this ten-day residential experience, students will receive coaching from attorneys and law students to prepare for the mock trial competition, academic lectures on legal issues, as well as information about the law school admission process and law career opportunities. Help your students prepare for their college future with a Pre-College Summer Program at the University of Miami. How many high school students get the chance to build an architectural portfolio for undergraduate admissions applications, create a workable business plan, meet executives from collegiate and professional sports organizations, or step into the eye of a hurricane with leading researchers in atmospheric science? Students explore their academic passions and discover future career paths at the University of Miami’s Pre-College Summer Programs. There are two types of programs your students can enjoy:  High-achieving high school sophomores and juniors can participate in an authentic college experience and earn six college credits in various academic areas in the Summer Scholars Program.  For students seeking hands-on experience in a more condensed format, we also offer two-week, non-credit UM Academies for an intense experiential learning environment open to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.  SPEAK TO AN ADVISOR LEARN MORE Note: The priority application deadline is approaching on February 1, 2023. Students are encouraged to apply early for the best chance of placement in their first-choice program. Applications are processed on a rolling basis and must be fully completed to be considered. HEAR FROM PAST PARTICIPANTS Summer 2023 program dates: Summer Scholars Program (Credit) is a three-week, for-credit program that allows high school sophomores and juniors to earn six college credits in a variety of academic areas they may be considering for college majors. Session dates: July 1 – 21, 2023, In-person UM Academies (Non-credit) is a two-week, non-credit program that gives high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors invaluable experiential learning opportunities. Session dates: July 1 – 14, 2023, In-person & remote options  Scholarship Opportunities Need-based and merit scholarships are available for qualified students in the Summer Scholars Program. To be considered, eligible applicants must complete both the Summer Scholars application and the scholarship application. All supporting documents are required by March 1, 2023 for consideration. Students who meet the requirements for our need-based scholarship may also qualify for application fee reduction waivers. NJ National College Fair, March 8th, 2023

Georgetown University Is Offering Two New Online Courses We’re happy to announce that we’re adding two new courses that may interest your students.

Medicine: An Inside Look at Treating Patients Explore treatment plans for three cases: a kidney transplant, vascular disease, and cancer. Students will review the techniques of both integrative and complementary medicine and design a healthcare team for a patient scenario. Journalism and Media in the Digital Age Delves into the fast-paced world of journalism. Students will learn the fundamentals of the field—from recognizing the elements of an accurate, compelling, and fair story to key ethics and laws. They’ll explore the various news platforms—print, digital, social media, video—and craft their own news story on the platform of their choice to demonstrate their knowledge. These courses are designed by renowned Georgetown University professors and delivered through engaging video lessons.
