As a high school counselor, you are an invaluable resource to your students as they plan for the future. If you are looking for opportunities to keep your students engaged in their education this summer, we invite you to explore Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies programs.

Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies strives to enhance the education of motivated, intellectually curious, pre-college students. This summer we are offering several online academic enrichment programs, and we hope you will share these programs with your students as they make plans for the summer.

Our programs feature a wide variety of disciplines—including business, computer science, humanities, math, science, social justice, and more—allowing students to investigate advanced topics beyond the typical high school curriculum. Students engage in discussion-based online classes with instructors who are scholars in their fields and passionate about teaching.

Applications are now open, and the deadline to apply for all programs is March 15, 2022. Financial aid is available.

Funding Opportunity for Engineering Undergraduate Students

 

Greetings from Michigan Engineering!    The College of Engineering is pleased to announce the following merit scholarship opportunity: The Geisinger Scholarship Program During his lifetime, Joseph M. Geisinger created a trust fund to provide  support to forward the careers of students pursuing degrees in  engineering at the University of Michigan. Scholarships will be awarded to first-year students admitted to the  College of Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor for the  2022-2023 academic year. Recipients must be enrolled full-time at the University of Michigan and pursuing an undergraduate degree program in engineering. Scholarship support is awarded for four years of undergraduate study or through graduation, whichever is less; annual renewal is contingent on satisfactory academic progress and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0.

The scholarship program will provide $20,000 in annual support to students from selected geographic areas: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington or Wyoming

Scholarship applications must be received no later than  11:59:59 pm EST on February 5, 2022!

West Point Cadet Panel

 

Dear Guidance Counselor,

 

The traditional rivalry football game between Army and Navy will be played on Saturday 11 December at Met Life Stadium as part of the 20 year anniversary of 9/11.  

 

As part of the festivities, West Point Admissions and the NJ Field Force ( local organization for admissions to West Point ) will host an information session on 10 December about the opportunities at West Point and will provide the roadmap to admissions. Captain Richard Simpson, the North East Regional Commander, and Henry Schwartzstein, a 1971 graduate and Chief of Staff of the NJ Field Force will provide the opportunities briefing and I will provide the details to the roadmap to admissions.

 

A Cadet Panel comprised of outstanding NJ Cadets will share their experiences, answer questions and will be available to talk to potential candidates. The NJ Field Force will also be available to answer all questions.

 

The event will be held at Seton Hall University ( South Orange NJ ) in JUBILEE HALL starting at 7pm and will continue to at least 9pm. We will not leave until every question is answered.

Stevens Institute of Technology-Paid Virtual Opportunity

 

The School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology is offering a paid virtual summer research program for high school students. In this six-week program, students will have the opportunity to work alongside a faculty member from the School of Business and assist them with research in their area of study such as entrepreneurship, marketing, management, economics, and finance.  At the conclusion of the program students will complete both a written and oral presentation.  The written report will include a literature review, and the oral presentation will include a 5-minute video of a PowerPoint presentation detailing their research findings. The program will run from July 1, 2022 - August 12, 2022, and students will receive a $500 stipend after completing the program.

Eligibility - Applicants must currently be in their junior year of high school (no exceptions).

STEM Program at Princeton University for 10th/11th Graders - Now VIRTUAL!: Deadline Dec 10th

Program Overview: 

The Accelerated Learning Academy (ALA) is a STEM program for 10th and 11th graders. Students take interactive workshops in 1 of 4 tracks:

Biomedical Engineering & Technology

Medical Science

Applied Mathematics

Artificial Intelligence & Technology

This year, in light of COVID-19, the ALA Program will occur online, via a web conferencing platform.

Program Cost

The program cost, which covers tuition, is $500. 

If applicable, families will receive a materials list for personal purchasing of workshop materials (aiming not to exceed $25 per weekend). Upon submission of receipts, the Institute will reimburse families according to our materials policy.
